Safeguarding the future of our homes
Residents and staff at Grange Crescent and Midhurst Road have had their futures assured after the properties were bought by SheffCare in September.
The two 42 bedroom properties in Sharrow and Foxhill were previously owned by South Yorkshire Housing Association.
But when vital local authority funding came to an end this year, the future of both sites was in doubt until SheffCare agreed to add them to their chain of homes across the city in a deal worth more than £1m.
"We are delighted to have been able to protect more than 80 much needed care home beds within the city," said CEO Duncan Bell.
"As the leading not for profit care home provider in Sheffield we knew it was in the city's interests to save both these excellent homes and we are both proud and delighted to have been able to reach an agreement with SYHA on their sale."
Both Grange Crescent and Midhurst Road provide full en suite rooms and extensive gardens for residents.
"Equally importantly, we are safeguarding the jobs of around 90 staff at both homes," said Duncan.
"At a time when the social care sector is under severe pressure, there are advantages to being part of a not for profit organisation that can reinvest any surplus back into maintaining and improving services."
