Case Study Michael Rose
Before coming to work for SheffCare Michael worked in the Brew house at the Bass Brewery for twenty years. When the Brew House closed Michael moved to to the dray wagons delivering beer barrels to pubs and clubs, which he did for a further ten years. After turning 50 and having worked for Bass for thirty years, Michael was offered a final salary pension which he accepted.
After taking a six week break Michael decided he wanted a part time job so he applied to the Post Office as a post man. After a two week training period he was out on his own.
His day started at five in the morning and after still delivering post at seven pm that night, Michael decided that being a post man was not for him!
Michael has been at Deerlands for five years now, he hadn't intended to come in the care sector, but saw the job advertised and as it was a part time position and close to his home he thought he'd give it a try. Michael gets a lot of job satisfaction form his work, he loves walking in to someone’s house and seeing their face light up knowing that you’re the first person they have seen all week.
Michael enjoys that every day is different, sometimes challenging and is proud knowing he has made a difference in someone’s life.
