Housteads, consistently rated as 'Excellent' by the Care Quality Commission, the health and social care regulator for England, offers first-rate care in comfortable surroundings. Nearly 70% of our staff are NVQ qualified and have been at the home for some time, getting to know the residents well. You will have your own bedroom with shared bathroom facilities in each corridor. Many of our bedrooms have television and telephone points so that you may stay in regular contact with your family and friends and can watch your favourite programmes at your leisure. To ensure that you feel at home you may also wish to furnish your bedroom with your own pieces of furniture and personal possessions.
Housteads is a single storey home and feels cosy and personal with each corridor having its own dining rooms and lounges where you can get together with other residents to enjoy your meals and have a chat. Our kitchen enjoys the prestigious 5 Star catering award for cleanliness of kitchen, high standard of hygiene and good home cooked food; taking account of residents different dietary requirements. There is also a larger communal area where you can join all the homes’ residents for entertainment and activities. In addition to its television lounges Housteads have quiet rooms where you can sit and read your paper with no disturbances.
Housteads also has its own hair salon with a local hairdresser visiting regularly during the week. If you require, we are happy to arrange therapists to visit who offer a range of treatments including massage; facials; manicures or relaxation sessions. We can also arrange for an Optician and Chiropodist to visit regularly. A dentist from the Darnall practice, who are registered under the ROCS scheme (Residential Orthodontic Care Scheme) visits as required and undertakes regular health checks.
The home is set in its own gardens with sheltered and easily accessible areas.
At Housteads we are not just a residential home. Other services include:
• day care facility
• short term or overnight care (respite)
• escorted hospital visits or doctor’s appointments
• specially adapted baths and help with bathing
• help with shopping or laundry
So, if you are the carer or relative of an older person and would like to take some time away, we will ensure you can go safe in the knowledge that you loved one is in safe hands.
