Our Different Roles
To support our services, SheffCare offer a wide variety of opportunities for people to join us.
Just like in any domestic home, there are four key areas which need to operate effectively:
Housekeeping duties, i.e. cleaning
To support our service delivery, we have a Central Support Services team, which include job roles in the following functions:
The team who look after the housekeeping duties are called the Domestic Assistants. Their role involves carrying out domestic duties whilst encouraging a high standard of health, hygiene and tidiness throughout the home. Also they assist residents with physical care needs as required, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
The Senior Cooks and Cooks are responsible for preparing and presenting quality meals in an appealing manner, according to planned menus and special dietary needs. They are also responsible for ensuring that high standards of nutrition and hygiene are maintained within the kitchen area.
It is the responsibility of the Care Support Workers, with the assistance of the Team Leaders and Registered Manager to provide quality care to our residents and day care users in a manner which will maximise their independence, dignity and quality of life. The role is to support, assist and encourage individuals with their daily activities whilst maintaining links with the community.
Under the guidance of an Activity Co-ordinator Activity Workers provide entertainment for our residents and day care users. They are assisted by the Carer / Drivers who also provide transportation and personal care.
Central Support Services team
The Financial Director heads up the finance team and as part of the executive team is responsible for ensuring SheffCare is strategically and financial robust. The Finance Manager ensures the monthly reports are accurate and published on time for the Board of Trustees and ensures invoices are paid and monies due are received. The team are also responsible for offering advice and support to residents and their families regarding fees and benefits.
H.R. and Training look at how we employee the best people for the service, develop the skills necessary to do the best job possible and endeavour to recognise and reward people for their loyalty and performance within the business. We aim to ensure that all people know what they contribute to the business and encourage a good team ethos to provide the best service possible. We are already an excellent training package within the industry and actively support people to develop their skills through supported learning, NVQ's etc.
The Communication Manager's role is to ensure that communication within SheffCare is clear, accurate, timely and effective. Externally they are tasked with raising the profile of SheffCare within Sheffield and regionally and marketing SheffCare's services, positioning the organisation as the premier service provider for older people in Sheffield.
Property Services Department deals with the ongoing building maintenance and repairs. We have two designated maintenance staff who deal with all reactive jobs and issues at all homes and head office on day-to-day basis. Property Services also runs the services contracts and planned maintenance works including small refurbishment and improvement works.
The IT department's role is to support all other departments enabling them to be effective and efficient. With an eye to making sure the company has the best telecommunication resources on hand that it can afford, the IT department is much more than just a group of people who show up when the computer crashes. The IT department supplies decision makers with facts, supports and enhances the overall decision-making process and enhances job performance. IT provides the data and information to help the board and management make strategic decisions. MIS allows management to monitor activities and distribute information to other employees, customers, and members of management.
