Continuous staff training and development is a major part of our philosophy at SheffCare. By equipping our staff to handle any and all care related situations, we put our residents and day care users in the best possible hands and create an enjoyable and fulfilling environment. As part of our ongoing investment in our staff, we have a dedicated training resource team. SheffCare training is a resource that provides access to National Vocational (NVQ) and Specialist Training qualifications; giving quality and development appropriate to our employees needs.
Induction - help every step of the way
To prepare staff for their future roles, our Care support workers complete their induction course and then spend time shadowing an experienced Care support worker in the home. The induction period enables care workers to give high quality care and support, provide recognition for their work, and prepare them for entry onto NVQ health and social care programmes.
Our 5 day induction course covers the following subjects.
-
understanding principles of care
-
understanding the organisation and role of the worker
-
maintaining safety at work
-
communicating effectively
-
recognising and responding to abuse and neglect
-
Developing as a worker
Each standard contains a number of areas of knowledge that social care workers need to know about before they can be fully competent in their role.
