We currently have an opportunity for a Finance Assistant Apprentice to join the team at Sheffcare Central Support.

This Finance Apprenticeship is a great opportunity for someone looking for an entry into a career in accountancy. You will be working for the largest care provider in Sheffield. This is a 12-month Apprenticeship contract to study towards the AAT qualification.

The role is structured to provide experience in the key areas of finance, with time spent in different parts of the finance team. At the same time, there will be study support to complement the practical experience.

The Apprentice will be required to:

  • Dealing with incoming calls and taking messages
  • Weekly Statement run and four weekly invoice run, franking mail and posting
  • Running weekly debtors reports and matching unallocated receipts
  • Assist with entering payment information and processing receipts.
  • Assist with maintaining supplier and customer records by ensuring that the information held is accurate.
  • Client reconciliations and writing necessary cheques
  • Monthly statistical returns to Sheffield City Council
  • Electronic archiving of invoices in Coldharbour Financials
  • Scanning contract documents to docuware (Document Management System).
  • Scanning contract documents to docuware (Document Management System).
  • Filing
  • Any additional jobs required by Finance Department, Head of Finance

Qualifications Required:

Minimum four GCSEs at grade C and above, including English and Maths, and A Level Maths, grade C and above or equivalent qualifications

Working Week: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm

Rate: £3.40 per hour - £125.00 per week

Expected Duration: 12 months

Training to be provided:

As an Accountancy Apprentice, you will complete the AAT qualification, of which we deliver Level 2 (Certificate), Level 3 (Diploma) and Level 4 (Diploma).

The completion of the AAT qualification will be completed at an accredited training centre or via an Online Classroom Live platform. You will complete the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) course at level 2/3 depending on prior qualifications.

Future Prospects: No guaranteed job at the end of the 12 month FTC. Potential to move on to study for Level 4 AAT and opportunities to apply for internal vacancies no guarantee of post availability and subject to competitive interview).
